Play the Royal Game of Ur
Open a private room for someone you already know, or a public room if you want to wait in the lobby. The host picks White or Black; whoever joins takes the other side. White rolls first. After both seats are taken, later visitors can only watch.
Create a room
Pick public or private, then send the link or room code.
A public room appears in the lobby while the second seat is open. This browser can host only one public room at a time.
Join a room
Paste a share link or type a room code. An open seat lets you play; a game already underway opens in spectator mode.
Leaving does not end the game. The host can come back from My rooms or close the room. If both players go offline, the room usually stays about 20 minutes. The room rolls the die, so neither side can change a number. A room code only joins this game and does not store personal information.

Ur Online Rooms
If you already know who you want to play, make a private room and send the link. If you just want a game, wait in the public lobby. Choose White or Black before the first roll. If the connection drops, the same browser can usually reclaim the seat, while spectators can follow the game without touching the sticks.

Private or Public
A private room is for finding the right person. A public room is for starting faster. If you already know your opponent, send the link directly. If you do not, the lobby gets you into a game with whoever is waiting first. Close the room when you are done so the link stops working.

Picking a Side
White rolls first, so side choice also sets the opening pace. That decision has to happen before the first roll, not after the game has already started to swing. Spectators see the same position as the players, and they can take an open seat if one appears.

Reclaim Your Seat
Leave and Close are not the same thing. Leave keeps the room around for a while, which is what you want after a disconnect or a short pause. Close ends the room for everyone and kills the link. If the tab drops, reopening the same link in the same browser is usually the fastest way to get your seat back and keep playing.
